At the number one spot, we have the 1996-97 Chicago Bulls. Considering this is a team that three-peated a championship, this sounds like a reasonable answer.
Coming in at number two is the 2000-2001 Los Angeles Lakers. This team also three-peated a championship as this team and the 96-97 Bulls were coached by the man, the myth, and the legend — Phil Jackson.
The number three spot is where Perkins’ list starts to get crazy. Perkins selected the 2003-2004 Detroit Pistons for the third-best team of all time. Although the Pistons weren’t even the number one ranking that season, they did go on to win the championship.
